Golden Book of World Record awards Excellence Certificate to Chief Minister : Chhattisgarh sets a new world record
More than 50 lakh people performs yoga in group on Yoga Day, Chief Minister congratulates people of state for making yoga day events successful
Raipur, 21 June 2017 - Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, more than 50 lakh people at nearly 11 thousand places of 27 district of Chhattisgarh created a world record by performing yoga simultaneously in respective places, on the occasion of third International Yoga Day. In this event, students of schools-colleges, common people and people belonging to various sections of society participated. In this yoga session organized at Indoor stadium of the capital city Raipur, Observer of Golden Book of World Record Mr. Santosh Agrawal gave away certificate of this world record to Chief Minister. Golden Book of World Record has issued this certificate to Social Welfare Department of Chhattisgarh Government.
On the occasion, citizens, public representatives and senior officials of government-administration and 600 school students participated in the programme and practiced yoga under the leadership of Chief Minister. In this yoga session, Member of Raipur Lok Sabha jurisdiction Mr. Ramesh Bais, MLAs Mr. Satyanarayan Sharma, Mr. Shrichand Sundrani, Mr. RK Roy and Mr. Bhojraj Nag, RDA Chairman Mr. Sanjay Shrivastava, Chairman Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission Mr. Sanjay Agrawal State Government's Chief Secretary Mr. Vivek Dhand, Director General of Police Mr. AN Upadhyay, School Education Secretary Mr. Vikassheel, Social Welfare Department Secretary Mr. Sonmoni Borah, Director Social Welfare Dr Sanjay Alang were also present.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh congratulated people for their active participation and support in successfully organizing the events on Third International Yoga Day. He also thanked all the departments and people of the state for the same. In his address to the programme, Chief Minister congratulated Social Welfare Department Secretary Mr. Sonmoni Borah, School Education Secretary Mr. Vikassheel and all the officials and employees of both the department along with Department heads, Divisional Commissioners, District Collectors and District Officials-Employees, for the success of the events.
Social Welfare Department Secretary Mr. Sonmoni Borah informed that as per the vision of Chief Minister, more than 50 lakh people got the opportunity to participate in the third Yoga Day event. These figures are currently provisional. Final data will be released soon.
Mr. Borah also informed- it has been decided that along with Golden Book of World Record, this record of Chhattisgarh will be registered in Limca Book of World Records as well. Students of schools and colleges, youth, disable people, senior citizens, tribal groups, officials-employees of government and non-government organizations enthusiastically participated in the programme. Mr. Borah said that under this mega event, group yoga programmes were organized from state-level to district-level, in every tehsil, janpad panchayat and urban bodies. Mr. Borah said- more than 25 % of the population taking part in group yoga meditation, despite being a medium sized state from population and geographical point of view, is a major achievement in itself.
